The Painting Salon is set to take place on October 25th and will be presented by Guest Artist Carrie Ann Baade, internationally acclaimed painter. Baade approaches all her pieces from an art history angle to weave in modern feminist issues, and often creates surrealist portraits of her women subjects through flora and fauna. Looking at Baades work, you will see how many of the pieces look like they were cut and glued together, something that takes mastery to approach. Rather than giving a 30 minute mediocre painting lesson, student artists will collage their own surrealist portraits and incorporate painted motifs using one flower and one animal, selected through a collaborative exercise in the subconscious to inspire the central theme. Through this feminist approach, we will all leave more knowledgable about how we come to see the feminine as a subject.
